It’s probably a given that the first denim jacket was invented by Levi Strauss, but there’s a little more to the story behind it. And there’s a story behind our denim jacket, too. (There’s always a story with us.)

Americana has been a staple of Double D Ranch – particularly our summer collections – for nearly 30 years now. It’s heavily present in Willie’s Picnic, in everything from dresses to denim jackets, and tees to tanks.

In some Native American cultures, it is tradition for an infant to be beaded an amulet, known as an umbilical fetish, in the form of an animal to store and protect the child’s spirit. Each amulet also has an identical match to serve as a decoy to deter evil spirits.

From beaded bracelets and belts, to fabulous flag flair, to vintage umbilical fetishes (we’ll explain later), we have all kinds of patriotic pieces to add a little Americana to your outfit, and some pretty neat stories behind them all.

We’re celebrating the launch of the Willie’s Picnic collection, and what gets you in the spirit of things more than music? Launching Bakersfield was a much discussed and difficult decision. But ultimately, it was the right one. It was the only thing we felt we had any control over when the world felt totally out of control. But Bakersfield was designed to be wearable happiness. It was our contribution of color to inspire optimism. It was a bright spot in a bleak time. Make sure you get your Bakersfield beauties before we close the chapter on this momentous collection.

Inspired by a vintage rodeo outfit, the Walkin’ After Midnight Top is going to be one of those signature pieces from Bakersfield that you simply can’t ignore. Even if the name makes you scratch your head a little.

Remember the roller coaster we took you on that was just our first day in Nashville? Well, this is the subsequent 12 hours, and we assure you, it’s equally as full of shenanigans. From getting lost in rural Tennessee to causing a scene on Broadway, this half-day felt like four days in one.

Nestled in the heart of Nashville, Ernest Tubb Record Shop is one of the longest-standing and most iconic shops on Broadway. The original location opened in 1947 and still stands today, having seen many a country music milestones along the way.

Recently we were able to ask Tanya a few questions – about her new album, about being back on the scene, and about winning her first Grammy Awards. And her answers did not disappoint; she responded with her characteristic humor and candor that we’ve come to know and love.
