TRADE BEADS & CROSSES
In the 17th through 19th centuries, the Hudson Bay was a hub for European travelers and trade, often bartering beads and unique silver crosses for furs from the indigenous people of the region. While some contemporary artisans recreate the look with modern beads, many of these antique creations are still in existence -- some are even in our collection.
