STYLE IT LIKE A SISTER: NU PATRIOT

Obviously, we love every collection we debut – otherwise we wouldn’t launch it – and it’s honestly kind of impossible to play favorites, but this one just hits different.

“It’s nostalgic for us,” explains Audrey. “The very first summer collection we ever did with Double D was very patriotic, it’s when we debuted our original flag jacket that kind of put us on the map. Nu Patriot takes me back to those days in a lot of ways.”

With this summer being the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary of independence, patriotic chic felt like a no-brainer.

“I could design Americana in my sleep!” Cheryl laughed. “I’ve always loved the palette of red, white, and blue, and there is so much symbolism and imagery to work with, and the timing was just perfect for us to dedicate a collection to it. Of course, our creative collaborations with SHAPEAU and Dolan Geiman added beautiful elements as well. All in all, I’m just really in love with this collection.”

With so many fond feelings towards Nu Patriot, it was admittedly hard for the McMullen sisters to choose their ‘favorites’, but they each got dolled up in a look they’re loving this season. Without further ado, let’s see what the sisters are wearing from this collection!

"Toile is timeless, I've always loved it. Obviously, the fact that this custom version is packed with 'Easter eggs' of Americana adds a little layer of fun, especially this summer with it being the country's 250th. I'm also a fan of the silhouette; I love that dresses are trending toward tailored waists and full skirts, I think it's very flattering and feminine."

CHERYL, Bunting Blues Dress, Home of the Brave Vest

"I believe vests are an integral part of summer style. They're the polishing piece -- the wow factor -- you can add to your outfit when it's just too dang hot to wear your leather jacket. This one is extraordinary with all the beadwork and the patriotic elements, and I think it adds visual interest when paired with the ditsy design of this Bunting Blues Dress, which is another piece I'm loving from this collection. It's going to be very versatile in your wardrobe year-round."

HEDY, Honor Roll Jacket, Addie Henley, Sea to Shining Sea Skirt

"Well, I did stray from the dresses that I'd usually pick, but I stand by my commitment to dressing for comfort. This skirt is so comfortable, very easy-breezy and a nice length, and of course, this print we did with Dolan's artwork is incredible. I paired it with one of my Addie Henleys -- I think I have every henley in every color, and y'all should, too -- and the Honor Roll Jacket. I love the lighter denim weight of this jacket and the bomber style."
