AMERICAN AS APPLE PIE

From the Star-Spangled Banner to the Liberty Bell, we wanted this collection to embody the American spirit.

We did it in obvious, literal ways – an exquisitely beaded Lady Liberty on a biker jacket and boots, flags on denim jackets and cotton tees, phrases like “Land of the Free,” “Spirit of 76,” and “USA” emblazoned on apparel. There are inlaid eagles in bold boot designs, patriotic bridle rosettes reworked into statement cuffs, and custom prints that include every American icon you can imagine.

But we also incorporated key elements that feel American in a way you can’t quite put your finger on, namely, quilts. We teamed up with an extraordinary visionary, Lauren Shapiro of SHAPEAU (who, by the way, is an emergency room physician by trade), to create a collection of truly one-of-a-kind pieces crafted from authentic vintage quilts, ranging from chic statement jackets to showstopping wrap skirts. Some are classically patriotic in red, white, and blue, but others are simply colorful creations that were forgotten or underappreciated and given a second chance to shine. And, really, isn’t that the American dream?
