You’ve likely met her at an Addiction Meetup, you may have seen her styled as Mrs. Claus in Fort Worth, and you’ve surely seen her on Facebook. Renee Davis is a longtime friend and DDR devotee – with a jaw-dropping collection, by the way – and we love that she’s always an unofficial ambassador for the brand everywhere she goes.

“I wear it every day,” Renee explained. “I don’t go a day in my life without something Double D; it’s just part of who I am. It makes a difference in how I feel about me.”

From board meetings to the grocery store, you can guarantee you’re going to find her in some DDR. Recently, Renee committed to 18 outfits in 17 days at the annual spectacle that is the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo – all of them Double D.

“Rodeo and DDR belong together,” she explained. “Rodeo is grit, cowboys, heritage, music, dust, denim, leather, and heart. Double D Ranch captures all of that in fabric. Rodeo is tradition with modern flair. So is DDR. Rodeo is storytelling. So is every collection. Rodeo is bold — and DDR never whispers.”

If you’re curious why 18 outfits and only 17 days, it’s because it’s tradition for Renee and her husband, Gene, to wear one outfit for the noon show and a different one for the 7:30p.m. show on the final Saturday of the rodeo. (And yes, he changes, too, to match her – a vest to complement her boots or a shirt that picks up a color in her jacket – it’s just kind of their thing!)

“Because we can, and because we want to!” she said. “Because life is too short not to have fun. Sometimes the changing is a challenge – have you ever tried to put on a pair of Bandit Pants in the backseat of a truck?!”

While she and her husband are avid supporters of the SASSR through donations, purchasing animals – and of course, attending! – they’re not affiliated in an official capacity. Both busy entrepreneurs at the helm of several businesses, the rodeo is the one time of year they protect as their own sort of staycation. It allows them to manage their own businesses during the day and then get gussied up for all the excitement of the evening.

“Eighteen outfits, and not one was a costume,” she shared. “I’m never trying to be boastful – I give all the glory to God and the brand. One of my favorite parts of wearing DDR at rodeo? The women. A stranger will stop me and say, ‘I love your outfit!’ I enjoy being able to introduce them to Double D Ranch and all that it stands for, and suddenly we’re talking like old friends. Many of my best friends have been made this way. There’s something about this brand that creates connection. It gives women permission to be bold. To wear the fringe. To shine. To take up space. It’s more than fashion. It’s community.”

If you haven’t picked up on this yet (or know it about her already), everything Renee does she does with passion and an uncommon zest. Even shopping and getting dressed in the morning.

“I’m on a mission, because if I’m gonna buy it, I’m gonna wear it!” Renee said. “It is so unique and fabulous, why would you keep it in your closet? You bought it because you love it, now put it on and let it love you back!”
