March is Women’s History Month. In the past, we have highlighted courageous cowgirls who’ve inspired us, benevolent beauties empowering women across the globe, and remarkable (and stunning) philanthropists we’re fortunate enough to know. This year, we’re turning that spotlight inward.

“Women’s History Month doesn’t always seem to receive the same fanfare as some others, but we are uniquely positioned to hold it in very high regard,” said Cheryl. “We are a company of women, founded by women, creating things – and advocating – for women. I think that deserves to be celebrated.”

It’s true. You may or may not know this, but the Double D Ranch employee makeup is less than 10% male (and almost all of those are family!), which of course, means that 90% of the people on our payroll are women. Now, we’re not a Fortune 500 company or anything, but that’s still a strong statistic that we’re pretty dang proud of. And a lot of you have met many of our magnificent team members, so you know just how much talent, knowledge, creativity – and personality! – they bring to the table. This company couldn’t be what it is without every single one of their contributions.

Of course, we couldn’t pay tribute to the women of Double D Ranch without an extra-special homage to the McMullens. For starters, our steadfast rudder and unwavering supporter, Margie “Nana” McMullen, who owns DDR and raised the remarkable women who run it. Then there’s our creative genius, Cheryl McMullen, who somehow keeps coming up with outstanding and en-vogue designs and outdoing herself, collection after collection and decade after decade. Our Hedy Carter, who you might not realize, is the glue in a lot of ways; she’s the puzzle piece that snaps in the center and connects a lot of the departments; plus, her doggedness is what makes the difference in the DDR quality. And last but not least, the baby of the family but the head honcho at the helm, Audrey Franz, who defies every derogatory stereotype of a “boss”; she’s unflappable yet empathetic, incredibly savvy yet amazingly approachable, and is guided more by the Golden Rule than the bottom line. Pretty remarkable that all that girl power was raised under one roof!

That’s y’all. Y’all are, always have been, and always will be the lifeblood and the driving force of DDR. From the lifelong DDR devotees who have been along for the ride since the ‘90s to the cute young cowgirl who just bought her first biker jacket, y’all are the reason we do it all, day after day – and quite literally, the only reason we’re able to! Without the support (both monetarily and morally) of our Wolf Pack, there would be no DDR, and furthermore, there would be no Double D Addiction – and what a shame that would be! As one of the gals said at the last Meetup: This is the coolest club we’ve ever been a part of.

So, let’s have a round of applause for the women! From the shipping department to the showroom floor and everywhere in between: we see you, we appreciate you, and we honor you.
