The word ‘sustainability’ has taken on a life of its own lately. It’s become a buzzword that means nothing and many things, all at once, and it looks different to different people. To us, it’s about making things that last and, in turn, making things last.

We’ve made a biker jacket for every line since the early 2000s. “The first one we did was called “Angels on Horseback,” Cheryl said. “But the design was so nuts it was nick-named “Angels on Crack,” but it sold well. One of our customers is trying to collect every biker jacket we’ve made.”

“Double D Ranch has never been, and will never be, ‘fast fashion’,” Cheryl explained. “Our pieces are of a quality and timelessness that is collectible, that people keep for decades and pass down for generations. In general, people don’t discard their DDR; they bestow it, they barter with it, sometimes they even frame it. We aim to do the same with everything that surrounds us; to give each item more than one life, assign it more than one purpose. Whether it’s a painting, a fabric, or a piece of furniture, we want to make the absolute most of it.”

It’s not exactly recycling; it’s repurposing, reimagining, and reincorporating. A portrait can be both décor and design inspiration. A vintage bench takes on a fresh DDR aesthetic with fabric from the warehouse. An old poster becomes a new tee. And jewelry we once loved and simply had to have, finds a new home with one of you. Invest in beautiful things, and then make the most of it.

I purchased the gorgeous bench in the orange and yellow serape colors. It is a wonderful addition to my home. The bench is comfortably cushioned and well made. This is already one of my favorite pieces of furniture in my home. Thank you, DDR, for your restoration of these vintage benches.
