In our many years doing this whole DDR thing, we’ve been fortunate to meet a number of fascinating and wonderful characters in all walks of life, and among them, some pretty talented musicians. We’ve dressed Miranda Lambert, been backstage at the Opry with Tanya Tucker, and we’ve made friends with the darling duo, Joe & Martina.

The country music couple were originally introduced as a creative team more than a decade ago, and their love blossomed out of that. Both originally from California’s Central Valley, they eventually relocated to the Country Music Capital of Nashville, Tennessee, and married in January of 2012. And that’s precisely where we ended up meeting them for the first time.

“Cheryl, Mitchell, and Kristen came to Nashville at the beginning of 2020 before the world shut down,” Martina explained. “We got to finally meet at the Nashville Palace where Joe and I were playing an acoustic set. Mitchell took some photos of us and we all sang together at the top of our lungs. It was an instant connection that you only find with family. Such a blessing for Joe and [me].”

While we may have only officially met her last year, Martina says her love for the brand extends back long before that.

“I’ve been a fan of Double D Ranch since the early 2000s,” Martina said. “My first piece, I found on consignment at my local feed store and I was instantly hooked!

Since then, we’ve cultivated that friendship and had a series of adventures with them. We were able to hand-deliver a jacket to Martina and attend their concert when we were in Nashville in 2020, and then when the world shut down and concerts as we knew them halted, Joe & Martina performed live from their living room to our DDR Wolf Pack during our Once Upon A Time series.

And now, we’re honored to feature their likenesses on the Live From Pasadena Top in the Sissy collection.

“I knew the look I wanted,” Cheryl said. “I wanted a very retro, ‘of the era’ feel of a concert tee. I had a few images in my mind for inspiration, but ultimately, we decided to feature with musicians who we had a connection to. We’ve been fortunate to get to know several talented artists, and Joe and Martina have always just been so kind and genuine, and as a duo, their alternating images worked really well with the design I had in mind. It was a neat person touch to the [Live From] Pasadena Top.”

It’s clear we have a great deal of admiration and respect for the duo, and for Martina herself, and we are thrilled to know it’s mutual.

“DDR is so much more than just fashion, it’s a way of life,” Martina explained. “The traditions and values that these women built are not only inspiring, but what I strive to be like in my business and everyday life. They believe in chasing your dreams and becoming the best version of yourself. The Double D Ranch family are truly my SHEroes!”

If you didn’t already want one of these awesome tees in your closet, I bet you do now!
