It’s that time again! Vendors and visitors alike are readying themselves for the semi-annual Round Top Antiques Weeks.
Presley and Kennadee doing some shopping at the Round Top Show!

The Spring Show will be held from March 14th through the 28th this year, chock full of antiques, exhibitions, and events, fabulous finds and unforgettable fashion. (And of course, all the coolest cowgirls have already marked their calendars to come play bingo with us on March 20th.) Whether you’re a Round Top rookie or just need a little refresher, we’ve gathered a (nowhere near exhaustive) list of places you might want to check out on your trip!

    GRAB A BITE:

Branded as “A place full of personality and charm”, Boon & Co. serves up delicious eats and craft cocktails in beautifully curated atmosphere befitting of the heart of Round Top. They offer lunch, mid-day, and dinner Thursday through Saturday, as well as Sunday brunch. Plus, you can shop for unique specialty items, gifts, and home goods while you’re there!

Considered a Round Top institution, this no-frills diner consistently draws a crowd with its irresistible offerings of comfort food and an unexpectedly extensive wine menu, and they’re renowned for their mouth-watering pies. The vibe inside is hard to describe, but as their website states, “the magic of the people and the space will fill your soul”.

Touting itself as the “best little dive bar in Texas”, the Ellis Motel is a must for laidback libations in a lively atmosphere. You’re likely to run into the bar’s proprietor and namesake, Lee Ellis, who PaperCity once described as looking like “ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons in overalls”… we’re sold!

    STAY THE NIGHT:

At the risk of tooting our own horns, this is probably one of the coolest spots to stay in Round Top. Not only is it a stone’s throw from our own front porch, it’s a colorfully curated abode created from 3D-printed concrete! (All of the Halles Casitas are worth checking out, but Casita #5 is obviously our favorite.)

A little pocket of luxury that blends 1800s farmhouse charm with a chic modern spin. The ambiance is light and luxurious with a feminine feel, and the amenities rival that of a resort – from fine dining to a pool/hot tub, room service to pickleball, and massages to boot!

If you’re into cute and kitschy with a community vibe, The Glamp Inn is a great go-to! The indoor climate-controlled setup boasts a series of vintage “glampers” and themed teepees situated around some common sitting areas. It’s the perfect blend of privacy and fostering friendships; there’s no obligation to engage, but it’s such a fun opportunity to show off your scores at the end of the day with people who will share in your enthusiasm. (We had a DDR slumber party there for the Round Top Grand Opening and it was so fun!) BONUS: It’s right across the street from the legendary Zapp Hall.

Their tagline sums this place up perfectly: Where modern style meets vintage soul. Located right across the street from The Halles (where we are), Vintage Round Top features two spacious guest houses (Boho & No. 1450) and two bespoke “Cozy Cottages” joined by a shared outdoor patio space. You can book them individually, together, or even rent out the entire property.

    DO BOTH:

With a home base in Houston (a town that you know knows food), Lulu’s is legendary for its upscale Italian cuisine. In Round Top, their delicious dining experience is part of Hotel Lulu, an elegant arrangement of accommodations outfitted with antiques and vintage pieces that perfectly fit the vibe of the town to offer an elevated retreat experience.

Like we said earlier, this is nowhere near an extensive list of all the fun places that Round Top has to offer. And perhaps the best part? If you’re coming in from cities like Houston and Austin, you don’t even have to stay the night if you don’t want to! Make a day trip of it and come by and see us!
