February 20, 2026 2 min read
This year, the three-week extravaganza takes place from March 2nd through the 22nd, and takes Space City by storm for the better part of a month, actually kicking off festivities at the end of February with the Downtown Parade, the Rodeo Run, and the event everyone wants a wristband for: the annual cookoff!

While the stock show and rodeo are the anchoring events – and everyone gets a kick out of the kiddos mutton bustin’ – Houston is renowned for compiling one of the best concert lineups in the state. Plus, there’s the beloved wine garden, and seemingly everyone in town is on some sort of rodeo committee – let’s just say, it’s kind of the social event of the season.

So, what are we wearing, y’all?
“Listen, I LOVE me some Rodeo Houston outfits!” laughed Cheryl. “Because here’s the deal, Houston has money and they have style, but they’re not – and no offense to Dallas – but they’re not Dallas. They’re not putting on the Ritz for every grocery trip or girls’ lunch. So when they do, when they show up and show off for rodeo season, it’s a sight to behold. I mean, turquoise and diamonds and cowboy hats and custom boots, and just really having fun with their fashion. I’m telling you, some of these gals probably plan these outfits all year.”
Well, if you haven’t planned yours all year, we’ve got a couple cute ideas for incorporating your Nu Rodeo into your Houston Rodeo outfits.
It may only be March, but Houston’s been known to heat up in early spring, so we are absolutely loving this posh look for parading around the rodeo grounds. The soft chambray top reads Western, the pleated glen plaid shorts are giving East Coat old money, and those next-level Nicole Boots are the perfect blend of both. Style it with some statement silver and that beautiful beaded handbag, and girl, you’re good to go!
Planning to come early and stay late? This look easily transitions from day to night with a statement jacket and simple swap of accessories. The Cowboy Gist Skirt has an easy-to-wear elegance about it that is complemented by the chic silkiness of the Ada Blouse, finished with some classic silver pieces and a bucket bag gives a vibe that you’re rodeo-ready but doesn’t overdo it for the daytime. Once evening rolls around, top it off with statement turquoise and the matching jacket, and you’ll be catching the eye of the whole arena.
We’ve styled these print pieces every which way, and we’ve gotta say, they sure pack a punch when paired together. When you tuck the sleek button-down in to the chic circle skirt and belt it with a classic concho, it gives a fluid uniformity and the appearance of a dress. As always, top it with turquoise and add your favorite boots (we’re pretty partial to the Nicoles for this look), and two-step to your heart’s content!
