MCMULLEN FAMILY EASTER: PAST & PRESENT

Happy Easter, y’all! If you’ve followed us for a while, you know that Easter is a fan favorite in the McMullen family.

“First and foremost, it is our faith,” Cheryl said. “This holiday, really more than any other, to me really feels like it’s focused on faith. Of course, there’s Christmas, but with a million December birthdays and all the other elements, that whole season can feel like an overwhelming whirlwind. Easter, at least in our family, still feels very rooted and focused for me, on the sacrifice and resurrection and the reason for the celebration.”

Time and again, we consistently give all the glory to God for this company and the community built around it. And, hand-in-hand with that, how building this brand has facilitated a unique opportunity to enjoy the only thing that comes as a close second to our faith: our family.

“I think it’s pretty fair to say our family is closer than most,” Audrey laughed. “I go to work with my sisters and mom every single day. Half our kids and even some of our cousins work with us. I’m sure we’ll have the grandkids on the payroll before too long! Is Henry 2 yet? Get him slappin’ on shipping labels! No, jokes aside, we are consistently blessed to get to spend so much time together regularly, but Easter is always an exceptional gathering for us, because it’s all of us and it’s not about work. It’s about the Lord and each other.”

Naturally, we’ll go to church, there will be a big meal, and without a doubt, Audrey is going to be whipping up more decadent desserts than we can eat!

“And then there’s the hunt!” added Mitchell enthusiastically.

“Oh yes, don’t you dare forget about the annual Easter egg hunt,” seconded Hedy. “We’re a God-fearing bunch, but those gloves come off when the eggs come out! We’ve been doing that for as long as we can remember, and the McMullens are notoriously competitive. We can make anything a competition. We’ve basically had to get everybody all in a line and then do it like a shotgun start, so nobody cheats or gets a head start. It’s a sprint race, it’s serious business! Lots of laughs, of course, but we’re in it to win it!”
