Let’s make it official! We’ve cut our teeth a little, now let’s cut the ribbon!

Though we actually welcomed our first customers in Round Top last fall, we were still kind of getting our bearings. Now that we feel a little more settled, and with the spring market right around the corner, we’re ready to christen our cute little mercantile-style shop with a real-deal ribbon cutting event – and we really, really want y’all to come!

“Obviously, this is something we’re really excited about,” Cheryl said. “Round Top has been part of the DDR DNA from the very beginning – coming to source things here and look for good vintage pieces, artwork for inspiration, furniture we could reinterpret – so having our own little footprint here feels very ‘full circle’ for us. When the opportunity for an actual ribbon cutting was presented to us, we said, ‘Oh, heck yeah!’

And you gals know us, lowkey isn’t really in our wheelhouse – we’re going to do it up DDR style and make a whole thing of it!

The event will take place on March 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. at our Round Top Shop in Building 3 of The Halles. We will have the ribbon cutting, of course, and a toast to the newest map dot in the DDR family, but we’ve also got a whole lot more lined up. We’re bringing in live music from The Black Cat Choir, we’ll have light bites for some noshing, and we’ll have an open bar featuring signature drinks representing each sister – and one for Nana! (Wonder if you can guess whose will be what?) And yes, we will have our chain-stitcher on site cranking out cute customizations for y’all during the event.

BUT THAT’S NOT EVEN THE BEST PART!

“The real splash is going to be the reveal of the Casita!” exclaimed Cheryl. “It’s without a doubt one of the coolest things we’ve done in a long time. We have had SO much fun curating this space and I think it’s going to blow minds. It’s DDR, but really amped up and in an unexpected execution. Color, color, color – and it will feature the artwork of Dierdre Imus. And the folks at this event will be the first ones to ever lay eyes on it!”

If you’re scratching your head thinking, “What Casita? What is she talking about?” Well, it’s even cooler than it sounds. The Halles has created a series of five Casitas for lodging in Round Top; they’re all part of the little compound that has access to a couple Cowboy Pools and an onsite gym. They were built using cutting-edge 3D-printed concrete (yes, really) and each Casita has its own unique aesthetic – ours is Casita #5, which you’ll see on the site still says ‘Coming Soon’ because we’re still putting the finishing touches on it.

“We’ve really put a lot into it and we can’t wait to show it off,” Cheryl said. “It’s been such a unique little passion project – and I do mean passion project, these properties belong to The Halles, you book through them, this is not a money-making endeavor for DDR in any way – we just couldn’t resist the opportunity to put our style stamp on something so unique!”
So y’all head on over to Round Top on March 7th to show up and show out for the sisters! We promise it will be worth the drive!

How Exciting!!! Congratulations!!! My husband’s grandparents had a farm in Yoakum and I am thrilled to see your hard work culminating in so many wonderful ventures. I’m in Dallas and just wondering if one of your adorable casitas would be available to rent on Friday night??
