“What’s going on with belts is my favorite thing in fashion right now,” Cheryl admitted. “I have leaned all the way in on double belting, and I think there are even outfits and occasions that call for a triple – I’ve seen it work! The thing is, a lot of fashion right now is baggy and boxy, so your waist is what you make it; might as well have fun with it and make it a focal point.”
How we’re typically styling ourselves is that one sits on your actual waist or in your belt loops, the second slings asymmetrically across your hips, but that's not a rule, just a suggestion -- experiment with it any way you want!
Pro Tip: Avoid choosing two belts that are too similar; by varying the size and style, you create a look that is a little more complementary than stacked. For instance, a big concho belt paired with a slender leather strap, or a wide band belt complemented by a dainty concho chain belt.
“And here’s another thing,” Cheryl added. “If you’re just not feeling brave enough for two belts – or maybe it just doesn’t suit your personal style, not every trend is for everyone! – I encourage you to try wearing your buckle askew. Just, instead of wearing the buckle front and center where you button them, slide it over one belt loop. It’s a really easy way to elevate your overall look; it’s super chic and creates a unique visual interest without a lot of effort. Guy or girl, too – I try to make Jack do it all the time!”
