“What began in 2020 as a list of 30 standout young women shaping the future of the Western way of life has grown into a powerful industry movement,” their website states. “Now entering its seventh year, the COWGIRL 30 Under 30 program has recognized more than 210 remarkable women whose work spans agriculture, media, science, business, rodeo, fashion, and beyond. Curated by the editors and executives at COWGIRL, the program reflects the depth, diversity, and evolving impact of women driving the Western industry forward.”
On Thursday morning, the McMullen sisters delivered a presentation to the attendees during one of the panel sessions. It was an intimate and comfortable setting, almost like a living room arranged in a ballroom, with the sisters sitting on couches. As y’all know from watching line launches and even their impromptu Facebook live videos, this trio can be truly captivating, and boy, were they on point this week!
“These young women love hearing from the sisters,” shared Mitchell, who was also in the audience. “About their experience, their expertise, their advice. And they’re such good storytellers; they kept it interesting and lighthearted and fun. The audience was really engaged, I think it was a great experience from both sides.”
That evening, the sisters took the stage once again to give the greeting and introduce the hosts at the gala and induction ceremony, which is always a beautiful production full of beautiful people.
“Everyone was so lovely,” shared Leeann. “It’s so fun to see everyone in their DDR – new pieces, vintage pieces, everything in between – and how they style it. And beyond looking incredible, these women really are incredible.”
We’re proud to say that two of the 2026 inductees are our very own DDR cowgirls – Savannah Wellborn, the Assistant Sales Manager in our Fort Worth store, and Kennadee Riggs, who is a key contributor to many of our social media and marketing efforts. You’ve likely met them somewhere along the way and know what remarkable women they are – we are so, so proud of them and want to heartily congratulate them on this accolade!
And as wonderful as the evening was, in our opinion, it wasn’t even the best part! In their goodie bags, each inductee received a lovely silk scarf we created custom for this event, along with an invitation to come by the Stockyards store Friday morning for another special surprise.
“For lack of a better phrase, it kind of felt like Christmas morning,” Leeann laughed. “Truly, there was just a buzz of excitement in the store from all of our team as we waited for them to arrive. This is our first year doing this, so it was as exciting for us as it was for them, I think.”
And what was the big surprise? A custom Double D Ranch biker designed for each recipient, specifically to commemorate this achievement. It’s a gorgeous leather jacket crafted in pink and brown adorned with patches that say things like “30 Under 30”, “Class of 2026”, and “Long Live Cowgirls”. Of course, we packaged them beautifully (as we are wont to do) and were able to present them in person, which was also a treat for us because we got to spend a little face-to-face time getting to know them.
“If you want to feel inspired and humbled at the same time, step into the room with these cowgirls,” Cheryl said. “Let me just say, the kids are alright. The future of this industry is in good hands.”
