For Christians everywhere, this is the most holy week of the year. In honor and reverence of Christ's Passion, I will be featuring everything from Double D Ranch's spring collection with the Christian cross motif.
Crosses have always been big for Double D Ranch. The first time I used a cross graphically was back in 1993 when I was dabbling with nail-head layouts. I wanted to mimic the cross jewelry that was so popular at the time. What evolved was the Velvet Sunday Collection in 1994. From there it has gone on to embellish Domingo, Rios Christos, Rosario, Cheryl’s Necklace, and Laura’s Cross, just to name a few.
.
I continue to use the Christian cross in many designs. Sometimes the cross is very obvious like in this season's 'The Gate' tee and sometimes very subtle like in the fan design of ‘Tokyo Soul’.
I just want to give God the sole and soul credit for each and every collection. Absolutely, no pun intended.

The Gate Collection:

The name for this collection comes from John 10:7 where Jesus talks about the Good Shepard and being the gate. He says those who seek eternal life must go through Him.
The actual cross design is interestingly taken from a middle eastern textile. I have taken liberties to adapt and embellish it to suit the collection.

John 10:6-10 (The Message)
Jesus told this simple story, but they had no idea what he was talking about. So he tried again. "I'll be explicit, then. I am the Gate for the sheep. All those others are up to no good—sheep stealers, every one of them. But the sheep didn't listen to them. I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
