Inspiration for Double D Ranch Fall 2009 Collection started with an old photograph I saw in the...no, let me back up.It really started with a road trip...
It was early summer 1993. Cody Wild West Show & Auction was scheduled for the following week in Wyoming. Those of you who know me, know I am an avid collector, especially of textiles and all things western. So the Wild West Show and Auction looked to be the potential motherload of western collectibles; and besides, ...I had an itch to get out of town. Both Mother and Audrey agreed to be partners in crime, so we loaded up my Suburban, jokingly rationalizing we were saving money on airfare by "driving" to Wyoming. Actually, we needed a way to get the flyer's promising treasures back home to Yoakum.
Did I mention we loaded the kids too?
Yeah, bravely we threw Taylor (8 yrs), Bryson (7yrs) and little Jack (2yrs) into the SUV, sealing the makings for a soon to be memorable road trip. I won't elaborate on the drive up, but let's just say the 2 a.m. trek through Raton Pass is still talked about as a nail-biting, deer-dodging, roller coaster ride. The boys loved it. Mom cussed it.February 26, 2019
