When we were shooting the Giant collection this summer, we decided to try a little something extra: We invited a handful of “style makers” down to Texas to get to know them, introduce them to the collection, and have a little fun getting their take on the collection and their favorite pieces. Soon, we will be releasing a mini-catalog that features these five ladies, the looks they loved from Giant, and some behind-the-scenes moments from the shoot. In the meantime, we will be providing teaser intros to these lovely ladies in Double Dose.
Style Maker Sneak Peek: Shaley Ham
Shaley is the style maker behind (and now the face of) the Instagram account, @WestDesperado, which has an admirable audience of nearly 60K followers. The full-time accountant with signature ultra-long hair has fashion in her heart and rodeo in her blood.
“I come from a rodeo family,” Shaley said. “My mom has made it to the NFR, and my boyfriend is a bareback rider. It’s something that’s always been a part of my life. That’s where my western background stems from.”
The year her mother appeared in the NFR, Shaley attended the rodeo mega-event for the first time, and she’s been every year since. The timing just happened to coincide with her desire and decision to begin her fashion blogging journey.
“I started to travel to rodeos over the summer,” Shaley said. “And I started being able to dress up for them a little more, I wasn’t a broke college student anymore and I could afford to invest in pieces I really wanted. I started sharing those outfits on my personal Instagram, and thought, ‘This is kind of fun, I think I’m going to try it out and see where it goes.’ So I started West Desperado.”
You can learn more about Shaley Ham in our upcoming Style Makers Catalog.
