“Ok, well, let me clarify – it was very cold and it was very late,” laughed Mitchell. “But as far as photo shoots go, we didn’t hit many roadblocks or have a lot of setbacks. Plus, this one had a fun ambiance to it because it’s such a patriotic collection and we were coming up on the 250th celebration.”
The Nu Patriot collection needed an obviously patriotic background and we thought a red, white, and blue summer rodeo would really help set the scene and tell the story. We found an arena in Denton, Texas that fit the bill and would grant us access and then our team came together to make the magic happen.
Shout out to two of our Fort Worth sales stars and former state rodeo queens, Savannah and Ashlynn, who rode and represented and really made for an authentic rodeo vibe. Also, kudos to our models and our entire team who endured the chilly temps and late hours to make the vision come to life.
“We needed some night shots for the spotlight and the night arena section of the catalog, so we were shooting until midnight or 1 a.m.,” said Mitchell. “And once the sun went down, it got COLD. It’s a summer collection, but we’re photographing it months in advance, so like, early spring and it was windy. I got to be in my sweatshirt and jeans, but the models were absolute troupers!”
Speaking of troupers, it’s worth noting that this shoot was happening on the tail end of launching Cowboy Graffiti and most of the team had to pop up for meetings in Fort Worth the next morning – it’s an understatement to say they were a little worn out!
But hey, every photo shoot seems to be a labor of love – and wasn’t that catalog magnificent in the end?
