“Who knew this would become our claim to fame?!” laughed Cheryl. “I mean, bingo’s always been fun, but everybody knows Double D does things differently – and we do it up RIGHT. The décor, the DJ, and of course, Mitchell is always a hoot. The prizes were even incredible this time because our neighbors got involved. I just think it was a homerun event, and then the fact that it benefits the community is just the cherry on top.”
In case you’re not in the know about our now-famous benevolent bingo night, it’s something we do in Round Top in conjunction with the spring and fall markets. We sell tickets, deck out the pavilion, and play 10 rounds of BINGO for unbelievable prizes (like, valued at $2,000+ per round), and all the proceeds go to the Washington County Senior Center. Our first-ever “Daubin’ with Double D” was in March of this year, and it was such a success that we decided we’d make it a regular thing. Last Saturday night (October 4th) was our second go at it, and dare we say, it was even better than the first!
“Oh, it was a great time!” shared Mitchell. “There were dance-offs, there were three-way ties – not sure how that even happens – and there was SO much confetti.”
Yeah, about that confetti. If you were at the Addiction Meetup this year, you might remember the confetti cannons. Well, in Round Top, we had a bit of a tricky clean up. We brought shop vacs to suck up the confetti after the event. Easy peezy, right? No dice. First of all, we blew a breaker trying to run three at once, and as it turns out, the rocks at the door (we ‘confetti-canon’ed Mitchell’s grand entrance) made it impossible to do it that way. Needless to say, we are incredibly grateful for all the hands we had on deck to do that dirty work! It was (arguably) worth it.
“You just don’t know until you go,” added Leeann Wenske, DDR’s marketing manager. “There is no way you can tell someone you went to bingo night and they can adequately picture the over-the-top, amazing spectacle this was. I’m so proud of our team and our customers, who really showed up and not only purchased tickets but also added all the extras to support this cause. And of course, we’re really grateful for our fellow businesses* who contributed to the prize pools this time around – I sure hope our Wolf Pack showed them some love!”
If you weren’t able to make it this time, you definitely missed out. We’ll let the pictures and videos speak for themselves!

So sorry I had to bow out but 3 trips in 30 days totaling 25 days had just kicked my butt. I won’t miss the next one. I promise! ♥️

DDR is an inspiration to all when it comes to showing up and showing out. To hear that so many vendors wanted in on the fun is huge. Kudos to everyone involved for doing it up the right way!
