It’s always fun to reinvent an old favorite, and with Roosevelt’s Ranger Jacket, we did just that.

“We did a version several years ago,” Cheryl recalled. “I believe it was called the Patriot, but I can’t swear to that – I’ll see if I can dig it up – but it was hit. And it was one I personally loved – the silhouette and especially, all the patchwork. Yellowstone felt like the right collection to revive it.”

This version may be a reimagination of a DDR classic from yesteryears, but the original inspiration sprung from an old school Boy Scout-style jacket.

“Obviously, I love embellishments on garments,” Cheryl laughed. “I was drawn to the aesthetic of a collection of patches on the old Boy Scout jackets. You know, they’re colorful, they have meaning, there’s an art to the arrangement of them. I thought, ‘How can we elevate that look and give it a DDR spin?’ Leather was an obvious choice, that’s an instant upgrade, and in this version, it kind of blends the Boy Scout look with a bomber jacket look – almost has a military feel. With the patches, we decided to stick to the sleeve, concentrate them all there rather than all over the jacket, which cleans up the look a bit, makes it more chic.”

There’s a lot to love about this jacket. The military-ish silhouette is flattering, with that slightly longer length and adjustable buckles that let you take in the waist. The leather is a beautiful shade of dark brown. And the patches, since we got to totally make them up, we were able to do whatever colors and arrangement worked – and the best part is, you don’t even have to earn them!
