NFR 2020: What to Wear

No doubt this has been a weird year, and probably nobody’s favorite, but one good thing to come out of 2020: theNational Finals Rodeo is making its way to Texas! (Which we’d venture to say, is where it belongs.) It won’t be quite the same as our annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas, but Fort Worth is a charming town with plenty to do and an atmosphere that makes a cowgirl feel at home. And of course, as the big event draws nearer, we are faced with the age-old question: What are we going to wear?! We’ve put together some looks we’re loving for making the most of all Fort Worth has to offer.

Strolling through the Stockyards

The Fort Worth Stockyards are one of the biggest and most famous attractions the town has to offer. They’re definitely a must-visit tourist attraction, but you don’t want to LOOK like a tourist. You want your look to say, “This ain’t my first rodeo!” So polish up that belt buckle and bust out that bolo -- it’s time to strut your stuff through the Stockyards.

Stocking up at Cowboy Christmas

You can’t go to NFR without taking a lap through Cowboy Christmas, you just can’t. Time to get gussied up and go browse the goods! Naturally, red is great for getting in the holiday spirit, and lucky for you, our last collection is full. of. it. Keep it casual with the Smokey Mountain Breakdown Top and comfy with the Long Black Train Pant (these are great for traveling, btw), but up the ante with that head-turning Hondo Vest. And of course, better bring along your Saddle Pack Bag to tote around all your fabulous finds!

Be sure to swing by and say hello to our friends fromAnn’s Turquoise,Branded Envy,Jewelry Lady Red River, andTesky’s!

Perusing the Cowgirl Hall of Fame

What better place and opportunity for channeling your inner Annie Oakley than the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum? From the hat to the ketoh to the fabulous fringed Watanya Cicilla Skirt, everything about this look is giving off major Wild West vibes, and we are absolutely here for it.

Gettin’ some grub at Joe T. Garcia’s

Joe T.’s is a Fort Worth staple, and you should definitely make an effort to have a meal there. Take the opportunity to dress it up a little in this “Ketch-y” velvet dress. First of all, it has that beautiful embroidery that has a bit of a Mexican feel to it, and most importantly, it’s got a flowy fit and an elastic waist to accommodate consuming your weight in chips and salsa and margaritas! Throw in some vintage hair clips for an unexpected element of awesome.

You’re among sisters here -- now is the time to show up and show off! What’s bolder than this baby blue beauty? The Above Sangre de Cristo Jacket is certain to draw some attention (and envy!) and this is the perfect opportunity to accessorize to the hilt! Show off that squash blossom. Bring out those bracelets and belts. Load up on statement rings and eye-catching earrings. You’re gonna be in a room full of gals who “get it”, so don’t be afraid to go all out!

With so much else to do around town, we almost forgot about why you’ll be in Fort Worth to begin with -- THE RODEO! If you’ve ever been to the big show before, you know that absolutely nothing is off limits when it comes to your outfit. Fringe and fur, leather and leopard, and ALL kinds of bling. Listen, you know we always encourage being over the top. But this year, we’re not in Vegas, so we thought it’d be fun to stand out a little more subtly. (And this jacket happens to be a personal favorite of ours, and honestly, we feel like it got a little overshadowed by the bling and the fringe and the flames of Nashville.) The embroidery on the Back in the Saddle Jacket is exquisite AND it’s super fun to accessorize because of all the colors -- can you even handle how perfect these Oscar Betz earrings are for making every stitch pop?!

Boot scootin’ at Billy Bob’s

If Joe T.’s is a staple, then Billy Bob’s is an institution. This little spot in the heart of the Stockyards is the home of honky tonk -- and we’ve got just the outfit. When it comes to cuttin’ a rug to a little country music, we are all about the Ring of Fire -- the jacket AND the boots. Accessorize with an Opry Scarf and the Midnight Cowboy Belt, and you’re ready for two-steppin’ and turnin’ heads!
