When you’re a creative with a constantly whirring mind, inspiration can appear almost anywhere you look. Even in the faded, slightly worn, and clearly decades-old packaging design of a vintage hat box. The Roughneck Rodeo collection reflects a great deal of influence from that hat box, from the color palette of soft warm browns and buttery yellows to the retro-style illustrations that shaped the custom prints.
The original box was the color of ginger biscuits, emblazoned with a kitschy cartoon cowboy scene that incorporated interesting pops of yellow accents. Something about that color combination and the Western element charmed us, and just kind of stuck with us. Coincidentally, we were on a long road trip back from West Texas, passing miles and miles of wide-open horizon dotted by old pump jacks and oil derricks. (And sure, we might’ve also been binge-watching Landman.) The two concepts melded together and Roughneck Rodeo was born. Kind of gives a whole new meaning to thinking outside the box.
