From a design perspective, Roughneck Rodeo was a creative exploration into every aspect of the oil hunt, from the hopeful workover of the rig to the real “made it” moment, and that allowed us to play in realms of both gritty and glamorous.

One of our favorite elements of this collection – of this era of fashion in general, actually – is the gritty vibe of vintage Carhartt pants and well-worn jeans. The look is intentionally oversized (which is best balanced with a fitted/tucked in top or a cropped jacket, by the way) and grungy – the more stains, the better! Unfortunately, like all things truly vintage, the supply is finite, so we took a stab at creating our own, and while nothing beats an original, these are an easy alternative for accomplishing the look. On that same note, shout-out to the denim Hitch & Haul pieces that look like they just withstood a West Texas dust storm.

On the other hand, there’s always been the glamorous side of the oil industry, the side that every wildcatter risks it all for – the big win. We designed boots that we could actually picture as a “payday purchase” for the man who finally struck black gold. We channeled the oil heiresses and wealthy wives of the oil boom era, with luxe leather dresses, fur-trimmed coats, and chic silks. Perhaps our favorite made-it-moment piece, though, is the fur-embellished tie, designed to add that element of luxury to anything from a simple tee to a statement dress.

As with life, fashion is all about balance.
