That’s right, toss out every rule you’ve ever heard about what you can and can’t wear together. We’re styling velvet dresses over barrel jeans. We’re mixing prints that are unexpected. We’re going hi-low every chance we get – think designer silk blouse with distressed vintage denim. Nothing is off limits, just go for it and wear it with confidence.
If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times, but this is a sartorial hill we’re willing to die on right now: wear multiple belts. Mix up the styles, the sizes, the colors. Wear one at your waist and another (or two) slung across your hips. It’s surprisingly flattering, actually, and will create a visual interest to any outfit.
Somewhere along the way, a rumor got started that creams, khakis, and soft yellows will “wash you out”. Now listen, we do believe that color theory is a thing, but in our experience, we’ve yet to find a complexion this hue doesn’t flatter. (Think, Audrey versus Lozzie – they both wear it well.) We get it if you’re hesitant, but we implore you to just try it on.
