Red, white, and blue has had our hearts all season long with this beautifully patriotic collection. But there’s a sneaky little set in Nu Patriot that certainly shouldn’t go uncelebrated, and while it strays from the typical palette, it still emanates Americana in its own way.

We’re talking about the gorgeous green gingham pieces, of course.

“The Tea Party pieces felt perfectly appropriate for Nu Patriot,” said Cheryl. “Gingham is so inherently Americana, it evokes imagery of your grandmother’s tea towels or classic picnic blankets and baskets, things that feel as rooted as apple pie. And the green, it really wasn’t used as a poison this time, but more its own thing; it just felt so vibrant and refreshing, like fresh-cut spring grass. It just worked for a summer collection.”

We created three different pieces in the Tea Party gingham. The first (and a personal favorite) is the Tea Party Dress, that brings a distinctly feminine and classically retro silhouette with a traditional collar, a voluminous sleeve and yoke, and a fitted smocked waist, complemented by a full-swing ankle-length skirt. And, of course, the pearl snaps add a classic Western flair. It’s a light and lovely look for brunch, date night, or a Western wedding!

The top is a relaxed-fit boxy crop with the same feminine, full-volume sleeve, and the shorts are a darling – and very flattering – bubble silhouette finished with a cute tassel tie. You can rock the top with cut-offs or white jeans, rock the shorts with a simple tank or tee, or pair them together for a super-chic summer look!

The sleeves of both the dress and the top are embellished with colorful floral knot-style embroidery, another intentional detail.

“That goes back to that whole tea-towel inspiration,” Cheryl explained. “We introduced it a little in Cowboy Graffiti, the whole ‘handkerchief chic’ aesthetic that’s bringing back the cross-stitch style embroidery, in florals and initials and things like that. It’s another homage to that era of Americana, similar to the resurgence of quilts, and I’m loving to see how it weaves with modern to create a uniquely beautiful visual interest.”
