If you could see me now, you'd see my hand raised high in the air - I was so there, but I had a bit of a problem with mine. Here is the story:
Anyway, I spent two laborious weeks embroidering in between farm chores (Hedy and I were responsible for gathering the eggs, then washing and crating them) and finally finished my cut-offs by the time I got back home. I had stitched in "Love & Peace", some floppy 70's style flowers, the ubiquitous peace sign, and then I had those vegetables. I had a big red one right on the back pocket.
I thought I was so cool until I modeled them for my parents and Dad caught the rear view of my shorts. He made me rip out the back pocket with the big red vegetable.
It wasn't until years later that I understood,
hot as a pepper
was not appropriate for a young girl's behind!
As bad as I hated ripping that red pepper off, now I appreciate my dad making me do it.
Thanks, Dad - I miss you!
