The featured greeting card is from Double D Ranch's ephemera collection of leather postcards. Leather postcards became popular around 1900 and were produced by about a dozen companies including the W.S. Heal Company. These 3"x5" mini missives were made from scrap leather and produced the old fashion way - one at a time. Many are hand tinted and include greetings, campy cliches and humorous play on words.  Some cards even had pre-punched holes to encouraged crafty recipients to fashion pillows and throws from them.  Then in 1909, the U.S. Postal Service banned leather postcards because the card's thickness kept jamming the new postal sorting machines.

This "Why Don't You Write" pillow was produced by Double D Ranchâ„¢ Home Collection in 2005. Â It is inspired by an antique folk art pillow I collected on a junking adventure.
