Santa Fe silversmith, Buffalo, is known for his traditional old-world techniques of stamp work and repousseé forms. This thunderbird pin showcases his art and features a beautifully hued turquoise stone set at the center. Buffalo finished the piece with a brushed ox finish which adds a vintage patina to this statement pin.
Buffalo: Art, in its many forms, has always been Buffalo’s focus in life: commercial illustrator, musician, hairdresser, silversmith. He prefers to use the old techniques of the early Navajo smiths, working almost exclusively in ingot. Hand forging from scratch is what he calls his “labor of love”. He finds that visions come to him, and “pour out of him”, constantly, day and night. He earned his nickname as a tall wild-haired young man in need of a haircut. He has recently settled down in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he is happily making jewelry full-time.
