Set in sterling silver and fashioned from intricately cut turquoise, mother of pearl, coral, and jet, this covered wagon bolo is the design made famous by its maker, Joe Zunie. The wagon wheels actually spin and are replicated at the ends of the braided cord.

Vintage 1970s
Award-winning Zuni artist, Joe Zunie started working in the early 1960s specializing in channel inlay. He is known as “the master of the covered wagon.” His wife, Pauline Dishta of the famous Dishta family, also worked alongside him. His early work is unmarked and his later work is marked with J.Z.J. He is a brother to the noted artists, William and Lincoln Zunie. Joe passed in the mid-1970s.
