Bolo, Inlay, Horse Profile, Turquoise, Simplicio, Vintage ‘70s, 4010

SIMPLICIO SAYS IT ALL

The Simplicio family has long been revered for their talents as jewelry artisans, and this bolo, attributed to Isabel Simplicio, is a masterclass in understated intricacy. The textured sterling silver centers on a striking inlay of a horse head in profile, crafted from mother-of-pearl and shell, complemented by freeform turquoise nuggets in serrated bezels. The cord is a classic braided leather tipped with sterling silver aiguillettes.

Isabel Simplicio (1928 - ?; Zuni). Mosaic inlay; nugget work. Wife of Chauncey Simplicio.
