We’ve always been all for bucking the ‘rules’ of fashion. Felt hats only after Labor Day, straw hats and whites only after Easter? Don’t tell us what to do.

Because here’s the thing, if you wear it right, you can wear what you love all year long. Velvet, like suede, is one of those materials that people long said was for late fall and winter. We disagree.

“The key is shade and silhouette,” explained Cheryl. “You can have a floor-length velvet broom skirt, and in a soft mint, it’s still very much spring and summer appropriate. Or even in darker shades, in a short-sleeve or a flowy sundress, it works beautifully from season to season. I think what matters most is how you pair it; balance it with lighter fabrics, chambray denims or even a cotton tank and a concho belt in the warmer months.”

The only fashion rule we believe in is looking and feeling your absolute best; it’s your wardrobe, make it work for you, all year round.
