The Grand Canyon may be the biggest and most well-known, but it’s not the only awe-inspiring canyon in the country.

Whether you’re into hardcore hiking or recreational sight-seeing, these geographical wonders offer adventures that belong on your bucket list.

PALO DURO CANYON, TEXAS

Located in the Texas Panhandle, Palo Duro Canyon is the second-largest canyon in the United States and is often referred to as “The Grand Canyon of Texas” for both its size and the similarity of composition. Part national park and part privately owned land, Palo Duro offers a multitude of recreational activities from hiking trails to HumV tours.

BUCKSKIN GULCH, UTAH

At over 13 miles long, Buckskin Gulch is the longest and deepest slot canyon in the Southwestern United States, and possibly the longest in the world, located in Kane County, Utah, near the Arizona border. While it’s technically not a “hike” – it’s more of a horizontal trail – it’s still a strenuous and beautiful adventure through the slot that is commonly ranked a favorite among hikers.

WIND RIVER CANYON, WYOMING

This beautiful canyon is a scenic destination along the Wind River located between the towns of Shoshoni and Thermopolis, and a popular spot for visitors of Yellowstone National Park.

TITUS CANYON, CALIFORNIA

The most popular attraction in Death Valley National Park, Titus Canyon has it all: rugged mountains, colorful rock formations, a ghost town, wildlife, rare plants, and spectacular canyon narrows as a grand finale.
