There is something inexplicably Southern and timeless about toile, and transforming it into a patriotic print lends an elegance to Americana.

Ironically, toile is of European origin, with Irish roots and a strong French history. When it made its way to America in the late 18th Century, it most often depicted scenes from the American Revolution, which kind of makes this iteration celebrating 250 years of independence feel like a full-circle moment.
We envisioned it to present as a traditional toile at a glance, but up close, it’s imbued with icons of Americana, from bald eagles to Mount Rushmore and the Alamo to Lady Liberty. It features landmarks like the Grand Canyon and cowboy scenes from the Wild West. The imagery is all hand-drawn and brings an extraordinary amount of detail to the one-of-a-kind print. And while blue would’ve fit just fine into the patriotic palette, the red colorway felt bold and fierce, like the American spirit.
