This season’s signature vest has it all. And by that, we mean a little bit of everything.

“We worked a lot of design elements into this vest,” Cheryl explained. “It kind of has hints back to the American Assemblage Vest, I think we had that in the back of our mind design-wise, but we also wanted it to very much have its own identity that felt fresh and unique to Monument Valley. The back is screen printed with a Navajo rug print which instantly shifted it from the Americana vibe of the Assemblage toward a strong southwestern style, and we were able to incorporate some of Penelope Joe’s illustration into the beadwork design which was important to the aesthetic. That soft ‘sandstorm’ shade of suede works beautifully as a canvas.”

The vest is embellished with embroidery, and uniquely adorned with some cool cowrie shells that give it unexpected dimension, as well as triple loop-and-concho closures. But perhaps it’s the shape that makes it stand out most of all.

“The silhouette of this vest is what sets it apart, puts it in a class all its own,” Cheryl said. “You know, we’re seeing a lot of vests right now, so we wanted to create one that felt easy to wear, but also unforgettable. The Sentinel Mesa Vest is unique in that it kind of comes across as a crop at first glance, and then the long fringe not only makes it flattering but also gives it fabulous movement, so it’s a little more fun. It can dress up a pair of jeans or totally transform a little black dress.”
