Truly. Lord knows we work hard, but man, are the perks worth it! And by perks, we mostly mean you gals (and guys!), but yes, also the occasional event where we all get rigged up and get to spend time with all the beautiful people who make this brand what it is.
On Tuesday, we got the privilege of having a two-in-one kind of day, starting with the annual Cowgirl Hall of Fame Luncheon, followed by our own little event in the Stockyards store that we cohosted with Lexi Hoagland’s group, Cowgirls & Cocktails.
“Everyone should get to feel this blessed at least once in their life,” Cheryl said, riding the emotional high of Tuesday afternoon and evening’s successes. “No, I mean it. I’ll never call anything an apex – because that means it’s all downhill after that! – but days like today still feel, to me, like our ‘made it’ moment. You know, all we ever really set out to do was make things that people liked to wear, we could never have dreamed of all the precious people Double D would bring into our lives. I mean, have you ever seen such a gorgeous group of go-getters? It’s unbelievable. Today was a day that I looked around and made a point to freeze frame it in my mind. A ‘core memory’, as the kids say.”
For starters, we had the 48th Induction Luncheon & Ceremony for the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame which took place at Dickie’s Arena in Fort Worth. We had not one, not two, but THREE tables filled with friends, family, and our DDR faithful! It would be an understatement to say Double D had a strong presence there – and we don’t just mean the folks we invited!
“You couldn’t sneeze without hitting somebody in DDR!” said Courtney Greener, DDR’s Marketing Manager. “It was really something. This is one of the biggest, most prestigious events in the industry – especially that highlights and celebrates women – so seeing our designs on so many people in such an awe-inspiring setting was a remarkable thing.”
Every attendee at the CHoF luncheon (like, all 1400-ish of them) received a scarf and a promotional voucher providing them a little incentive to swing by the store afterward, so as you might imagine, our Fort Worth team was on their toes all afternoon, greeting fresh and familiar faces alike.
And then came our own little soiree, the activation event for the Gentry Road Collection – our first ever exclusive sneak peek before an official line launch! We hosted in conjunction with the absolutely delightful Lexi Hoagland of Cowgirls & Cocktails, and we are pleased to report she said this was her highest turnout to date!
“We met so many new people tonight!” Audrey said. “And we got to hug so many of our favorites. It was truly the best of both worlds. We had young girls coming into the store for the first time, we had veteran cowgirls and longtime friends of the brand showing up for us; we had Miss Rodeos from all over, we had Tuff Hedeman’s son Trevor trying on the Charlie Jacket, we had Lisa’s dog Apache in a cowboy hat, I mean, it was everything I could’ve hoped for and more – our team did an amazing job putting this together, and our people really showed up for it.”
“Did you see Angela?!” Hedy added. “Angela Lieurance showed up with a catalog in hand, dog-eared with her shopping list! Talk about a gal who has her sh-t together! Wish she’d come to work for us!”
“Even if she wanted to join the circus, we couldn’t afford her,” Audrey laughed.
We’ve had a lot of fun in Fort Worth over the past two years, but we’ve gotta say, this past Tuesday ranks really high up there.
