Pin, Cluster, Coral, Alice Quam Hallmark, Vintage, 846

RARE & COVETABLE COLLECTOR!

Anyone with a flair for accessorizing can see what a beauty this stunning statement pin is, but a true collector with a knack for southwestern jewelry will really appreciate what an incredible find we have in this rare and remarkable coral cluster by the late Alice Quam, a revered Zuni artisan known for her work with petit point clusters. Her work is posthumously highly sought after, and this piece is exceptionally coveted because of its uniform coral cabochons. The traditional radial cluster arrangement is embellished with a ring of repousse half-moons, snake eye stones, and sterling silver drops. A beautiful mid-20th Century piece, definitely a collector!

Alice Quam (?-2003; Zuni). Active since 1940s. Cluster work; petit point. Alice Quam shared a stamp with her husband Duane Quam. Daughter of Doris and Wayne Ondelacy. Mother of Alvina, Elgin, Shirley, and Wayne Quam, Diane Lonjose and Lorraine Waatsa. Sister of Bernice Leeky. Multiple award winner. Started using a hallmark in the 1960s.
