  • Bolo, Turquoise, Gary Custer

Navajo silversmith Gary Custer uses the old tufa casting technique in this contemporary bolo.  Set with a green-hued turquoise stone from the Kingman Mine, he finishes it with sterling silver tips and a black, leather braided cord.

TIP: There’s no wrong way to wear a bolo. While it was originally intended as a men’s necktie, it has long since taken on the freedom of spirit that Double D Ranch is all about. Read more about how to wear a bolo here:  https://tinyurl.com/ycl59ayt
Influenced by his family’s sand-cast work dating back to the 1800’s, Gary Custer continues the craft of silversmithing using tufa cast and stamp work. Gary was born and raised on the Navajo Nation in Ft. Defiance, AZ and is self-taught through exposure to his family and hard work
