Belt, Navajo Horse, Turquoise, Hallmark, Vintage, 912

Buckle up, beautiful!

This gorgeous vintage belt is the work of the incredibly talented Navajo artisan Aaron Toadlena. He’s been active on the scene since the 1990s and is known for his work in row bracelets, carved turquoise, and stamp work. We collaborated with Aaron back in the late ‘90s, and this is a piece from that collection. This sterling silver belt buckle features a scalloped stamp work-frame around an applique of a bridled horse head with a snake eye turquoise eye and an oval cabochon of bright turquoise in a simple bezel. The strap is black leather with tooled basket weave detailing. It’s stunning – and a tad sentimental!

Aaron Toadlena (Navajo). Active since 1990s. Row bracelets; pendants; carved turquoise; stamp work.
