DEPRESSION-ERA JEWELRY IS MAKING A COMEBACK IN A MAJOR WAY. WHAT WERE ONCE 1O-CENT ROADSIDE TOURIST TRINKETS ARE NOW COVETED AND COLLECTIBLE, AND WE ARE ALL ABOUT THEIR RESURGENCE RIGHT NOW.

This stunning Santo Domingo necklace is a 1940’s era Kewa creation, crafted in the traditional mosaic technique of arranging tiny colorful bits of turquoise, gypsum, battery casings, and found objects (often a red Dairy Queen spoon, but we can’t verify in this case) to form little thunderbirds and coordinating tabs, arranged on a strand of gypsum beads. The necklace is accompanied by a complementing pair of colorful thunderbird earrings. This is a one-of-a-kind collector set!
