Artist Brecken Geiman created this striking statement ring custom for Double D Ranch as part of a creative collaboration to complement the Desert Desperados Spring 2023 collection. The focal point is an eye-catching and unique cross-cut slab of Fordite, sometimes known as Motor City Agate, a very cool vintage material harvested from the paint room floor of old automotive factories. Not only is Fordite mesmerizing and fascinating, it’s also finite since that particular paint and method that produces overflow has long been obsolete. Makes this beauty even more covetable and collectible!
A native to the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Brecken has spent most of her life exploring the meadows, creeks, and Blue Ridge Mountains collecting “creative data.” In her passion for spending time with Mother Nature and love of travel, her artistic inspiration extends beyond rural Virginia, spanning from desert landscapes to coastal dunes.
Through the use of precious metal clay, fine silver, brass, polymer clay, gemstones, reclaimed leather, and other unique materials, she strives to create artwork that showcases her connection to the natural world as well as iconic Americana motifs. As a mixed-media artist and designer, she uses variable approaches and techniques in her jewelry making.
Brecken considers herself a combination of a naturalist, explorer, creative forager, and artist. In her designing, each piece goes through many intricate stages of evolution which may take several days or even weeks to finalize from kiln-firing, silversmithing, hand-sculpting, sewing, cold-working, and etching. Her artistic process is multi-faceted, and in the end, she is able to present truly one-of-a-kind wearable works of art.
