Double D Ranch is pleased to offer this outstanding bolo by Helen Long. Intricately crafted in sterling silver and set with beautifully hued turquoise and coral stones, it depicts one of Helen’s signature Yei figures.
Helen Long is a 20th-century Navajo jeweler, wife of Jimmie Long. She is best known for her kachina, yei and eagle dancer figures. Often her silver figures were highlighted with bezel-set turquoise or coral.
Mrs. Long fashioned rings, pendants, bola ties--all figurative in motif. Examples of her work are included in the Peabody Museum, Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. She is referenced in Barton Wright's book Hallmarks of the Southwest as well as in Gregory Schaaf's volume American Indian Jewelry I 1,200 Artist Biographies.
