Kirk came from a well-known family of silversmiths. He began working with silver as a young boy in the 1960's in his grandfather's workshop. He made jewelry his full-time passion in 1980 when he mentored with his brother-in-law and well-known artist Harry Morgan.

Kirk’s work has won many awards and is known for its investment quality. His aesthetic has remained true to the traditional heavy silverwork of the Navajo and is noteworthy for his use of the best stones and materials.
