Giddy up!

This colorful creation is the work of the late Helen and Lincoln Zunie, a renowned Zuni husband-and-wife duo of jewelry artisans, active in the ‘60s and ‘70s, best known for horse and cow chip inlay designs. This buckle is a gorgeous iteration of a black horse, accented with colorful geometric inlay design that carries to the two keepers and a matching tip. It’s on a classic black leather strap. Gorgeous.

Lincoln Zunie (1938-1983, Zuni). Active 1960s-1970s. Channel inlay; figural inlay, often horse or cow motifs.  Father of Patty Zunie Edaakie. Brother of Joe and William Zunie. Lincoln Zunie shared the stamp with his wife Helen Zunie (d).

Helen Zunie (? - 2008; Zuni). Active 1960s - 1970s. Channel inlay, figural inlay, often horse or cow motifs. Helen Auie shared the stamp with her husband, Lincoln Zunie.
